Denver and Boulder

Denver

CO State Capital

Courtyard off Larimer Sq

Taking Light Rail from the airport was easy and stress-free.

We explored the South Broadway historic district around Ellesworth.  Lunch at Atomic Cowboy, good NY style pizza and a tasty Biscuit Cuban sandwich.

Dinner in the Highlands neighborhood at Highland Tap and Burger (good burger). The Highlands was our favorite Denver neighborhood. The Nearby Bar is a great place for custom cocktails.

Sam's Number 3, on Curtis St, is a great diner downtown, with breakfast burrito the size of my head.

Snooze at Union Station was very good for brunch.

Downtown we explored Civic Center Park, State Capital and City Hall, afternoon tea at the Brown Palace hotel. Equitable building is an architectural gem.  16th Street pedestrian mall is under construction, installing bus lanes (I feel sorry for the businesses impacted by the disruption).  Larimer Square is great, and then we walked along the Cherry Creak path.

Union Station and the LoDo neighborhood has great architecture and lots of restaurants.  We walked along Larimer St through RiNo, stopping at Central Market.

Boulder

Explored Pearl St, and 13th St.  Art Source International had hundreds of historic maps.  Boulder Bookstore is a awesome!

Le Peep (off Canyon Boulevard) has great breakfasts and $3 mimosa and bloodies!  Had drinks at the historic Hotel Boulderado, check out the lobby.

Bohemian Bier Garten has a nice selection of German beers in a great atmosphere.

Aloy Thai was very good.  Pizza Garage has very good NY style pizza.

Foolish Craig's was great for brunch, nice atmosphere right on Pearl St.

We went for a hike to Shanahan's Ridge and Table Mesa trail.  Great views of the "flat irons" and snow-capped mountains.  Then we took a 90 minute drive along Eldorado State Park, Coal Creek, Boulder Creak drive.  This trail and other are described on Boulder's Visitor website.
