Savannah, Georgia
We visited Savannah for a wedding, stopping at Richmond on the way south, and Wilmington NC on the return trip.
Savannah is a beautiful city, with lots of history and beautiful parks and architecture. We explored the old city between Bay Street and Forsyth Park. There are a dozen beautiful parks throughout the old town area, each has an historical marker that helps provide context. It's such a a great walking city. We also explored the riverfront (see the JW Marriott in a former powerplant), which is nice but not nearly as beautiful as the old town.
Public Kitchen & Bar, great lunch and cocktails, nice atmosphere
Olde Pink House, very historic restaurant, perfect for a special occasion, good food
Lunch at Vic's on the River, good atmosphere and large menu
The Collins Quarter - we ate at the Bull Street location, fantastic brunch, highly recommended.

Richmond
We explored State Capitol area and White House of the Confederacy, Broad St, Main Street, the Fan District (find walking tour here), Cary St/Carytown, Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom. The Jefferson Hotel is a beautifully restored building, one of the most impressive hotels I've seen in the US. Brunch JR has great food and drinks, huge brunch! The building is shared with Lunch Supper, which we will try next time in Richmond.

Explored Front and 2nd St, and the Riverwalk. Lunch at Floriana, great table on the balcony overlooking the Cape Fear River and riverwalk. Drinks at Marina Grill with great views of the marina. Dinner at The Fork N Cork. Tiny bar with upscale bar food.
